Well, if it wasnt for the cold and the thick fog it would have been a pretty good morning on the basin  Got out about 3am and shot till just before sun up. Parts of the basin closer to the main channel are still holding alot of fish and the water is crystal clear in spots, and pretty clear everywhere else. That was surprising considering all the rain in the past few days. But the fog was the real problem and you couldnt see the fish until they saw you and bolted. Managed a couple and passed on some commons. Had another pull off. Put in at the Big Basin marina on the DesPlaines River near Wilmington Illinois this time and the dock was covered with frost when I left and REAL slippery. Still good bowfishing, but they are not all over the flats like in spring or summer. Took some pics under the lights of the carp I was seeing, here is one close to the tree.....

It is not as easy as my recurve, too heavy and too slow. The crossbow Im shooting is a Ten Point GT Flex. Its weight is adjustable from 80 lbs (great for carp shooting) to 170. At 80 Ive yet to get a pass thru. The bolt looses alot of speed going thru water. but its something different to have fun with. I like shooting everything, but 95% of my bowfishing I use a short Black Widow recurve.
